Welcome to the grand opening of the 66th Bergen International Festival in the heart of the city!
The official opening ceremony includes a broad menu of excerpts from the Festival programme. The "house band" is special for the occasion and led by saxophone virtuoso Kjetil Møster. The programme is a secret until just before the big day, but exciting artists in many different genres, speeches and the traditional singing of Nystemten is definitively on the programme.
The opening ceremony is free and open for everyone. There will be seats in front of the stage, and it's a good idea to show up early if you want to secure a seat.
Her Majesty the Queen will attend the official opening of the Festival. His Majesty the King Harald has been the Festival's high protector since the first edition in 1953.
The complete programme will be announced at www.fib.no as opening day nears.
