2013: Fredrika Brillembourg (Marco)

FREDRIKA BRILLEMBOURG, mezzo soprano, is known for her versatility in roles ranging from Carmen to Brangäne to Ligeti’s Mescalina.

Recent debuts include Amneris in Aïda at the Stuttgart Opera, Adalgisa in Norma with the Croatian National Opera in Zagreb, US debut as Carmen in Carmen with the Sarasota Opera, Klementia in Paul Hindemith’s Sancta Susanna with the American Symphony Orchestra at the 2010 Bard Festival, concert performances of Götterdammerung with Washington National Opera at the Kennedy Center, and Jitsuko Honda in Toshio Hosokawa’s Hanjo in Tokyo. She was a member of the ensemble in Bremen 1995–2001, and was the first singer in the history of the theater to win both the Kurt Hübner Prize and the Bremen Volksbuhne Prize. Fredrika Brillembourg has performed with orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, MusikFabrik Köln and The Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Upcoming engagements in 2012/13 include Mahler’s symphony no. 2 with the Bulgarian National Radio Orchestra, Amneris in Aïda at the Macedonian National Opera and a return to Berlin’s Komische Oper as the Witch in a new production of Hansel and Gretel.
