Johan Reuter trained in Copenhagen at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and the Opera Academy, and began his career in the vocal ensemble Ars Nova Copenhagen.

Johan Reuter trained in Copenhagen at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and the Opera Academy, and began his career in the vocal ensemble Ars Nova Copenhagen. Since 1996 he has been a soloist at the Royal Danish Opera, where he has sung a very wide repertoire, from Mozart to Verdi and brand new operas. Reuter regularly sings on international stages. He has sung Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman in Berlin and Madrid, the title role in The Marriage of Figaro at Deutsche Oper, Mandryka in Strauss’ Arabella at the Vienna State Opera and Wozzeck at Covent Garden. As a concert singer, he has appeared at Europe’s leading festivals, including the Salzburg Festival and the Proms. The festival repertoire ranges from Haydn’s The Creation and The Seasons, with conductors like Philippe Herreweghe and Marc Minkowski, to Mahler’s Eighth Symphony conducted by Valery Gergiev. He can also be heard on many CDs, including Poul Ruders’ opera Kafka’s Trial and Vagn Holmboe’s Requiem for Nietzsche.
