Tor Erik Seime Pettersen studied at the Grieg Academy in Bergen, at the University of Stavanger and at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. He is regularly performing as a soloist and chamber musician, and he is also in great demand as an accompanist. Pettersen has given solo performances with several orchestras and wind bands, including Khatchaturian's piano concerto with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, and Grieg's piano concerto on several occasions. As a chamber musician, Pettersen has performed throughout Europe. Seime Pettersen has twice been a prizewinner at the National Youth Piano Competition in Norway. He takes a great interest in presenting lesser known Norwegian piano music to the public, especially music by the composers of western Norway, such as Harald Sæverud, in whose home Seime Pettersen was given his first piano lessons. He has also taken classes on the fortepiano, and has a passion for performing works by the classical composers on authentic instruments.
The festival receives government grants from:Arts Council Norway, City of Bergen and Hordaland county.
