The Esbjerg Ensemble was the first instance of a professional Danish chamber ensemble when it was established in 1967.
The Esbjerg Ensemble was the first instance of a professional Danish chamber ensemble when it was established in 1967. It has set the standard for chamber music in Denmark ever since, playing at the same time an important part in artistic development in and around Esbjerg. Large local audiences enjoy the ensemble’s concert series each season, and chamber music lovers throughout Denmark can also experience the ensemble live on tour or on its frequent radio broadcasts. The ensemble performs a wide variety of music from all eras at an impeccably high standard, but is particularly recognised for its stylistically consistent interpretation of modern works. The Esbjerg Ensemble is therefore often a natural choice when contemporary composers seek ensembles to premiere or record newly written compositions.
The festival receives government grants from:Arts Council Norway, City of Bergen and Hordaland county.
