Håvard Gimse has been a recurrent guest at the Bergen International Festival ever since 1986, and has played the A minor Concerto, given recitals and performed in various chamber music concerts. After winning the first prize at the European piano competition Jugend Musiziert in 1987, Gimse has been increasingly successful abroad without participating in competions. Among his distinctions are the Steinway Prize (1995), the Grieg Prize (1996) and and Norwegian Sibelius Society’s Sibelius Prize (2004). He has released more than 30 internationally acclaimed recordings.
