Ragnhild Hemsing

Ragnhild Hemsing was born in the region of Valdres in 1988, and started playing the violin at the age of five.

She began her musical studies at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo, and currently studies under professor Boris Kuschnir in Vienna. At age 13, Hemsing had her professional debut together with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and has since then performed with all major Norwegian orchestras, as well as with the Minnesota Orchestra, Ukrainian
National Philharmonic Orchestra and the Danish
National Radio Symphony Orchestra. She has appeared at major festivals across Norway, such as Bergen International Festival, Oslo Chamber Music Festival and Førde International World Music Festival, where she has been combining folk programmes with classical repertoire. She is the winner of all of Norway’s major youth competitions, as well as prizes in international competitions like the Kocian International Violin Competition and the European Music Prize for Youth. Symphony Orchestra, the Nordic Symphony, the Residentie Orkest,
Feldkirch Festival and Kennedy Center Washington D.C.
