Yvonne and Bjarne Rieber The Bergen International Festival is something we look forward to with delight and excitement every year. We think it is an important cultural event that opens the horizons of the city and challenges audiences.Over the years we have invested many million kroner in the Bergen International Festival because we believe in the festival’s long-term international ambitions. Its international impact benefits everyone working in the arts throughout Norway. The festival’s investment in own productions is exciting, and we note with pleasure how it is making its mark in the arts throughout Europe.
Grieg FoundationThe Grieg Foundation has given financial support to the Bergen International Festival for many years, with a total donation of 11 million kroner to date. In 2012 we directly support the festival’s collaboration with El Sistema from Venezuela and the establishment of the bi-national orchestra NoVe. This collaboration binds two worlds – Norway and Venezuela – together in a musical encounter. El Sistema develops talented young musicians, giving them opportunities for a better future. The Bergen International Festival is an important annual event for Bergen and the cultural activity of the city, and we are proud to be among its patrons.
