Harald Sæverud (1897-1992) was one of the most important Norwegian composers of the last century. He built his very unusual house in 1939. It is 700m2, made of wood and natural stone, and with elements from old Norwegian building traditions. Part of the interior have also been designed by Sæverud himself. The house opened as a museum in April 1997 in connection with the composer's 100 year anniversary.
