A vibrant celebration of music, dance, and rhythms from all corners of the world.
RIFF is being arranged for the fourth time this year and is bursting with joy and energy. There will be reggae, hip-hop, samba, house, and afrobeat, performed by fabulous artists from Bergen’s vital music scene.
The evening starts off with African party music by Chakacha-Sana, a band originating from Café Sanaa – the intimate and colourful concert scene in Marken. Inspired by Swahili traditions from the East African coast they are swinging rhythms like chakacha, taarab, mdundiko, and mawindi.
Next in line is Ivar Thormodsæter with a house band gathered for the occasion, who will play throughout the evening together with a group of excellent musicians and dancers: F1x, Wangladesh, Irem Müftüoglu, Flawa Few, Will ‘Black Diamond’ Freeman, Action The Man, and Gabriela Garrubo will appear on stage in a concert where everybody plays together with everybody.
The context for the extensive programme is significant words like roots, identity, diversity, and community, but this evening is most of all a limitless celebration of music for your feet, head, and heart!
