Concert with Nils Petter Molvær/Bergen Big Band

One of Norway’s most versatile instrumentalists, Nils Petter Molvær, expands into big band format for the first time. Molvær’s music takes on a new dimension when he builds it up and out with Bergen Big Band. Much of the music has never been heard before.
Molvær is known for his characteristic style, which combines jazz with elements from Scandinavian folk music, hip-hop and techno. In the hands of the Norwegian composer a variety of musical styles meld effortlessly into unique dramatic soundscapes of profound intensity. As a trumpeter he has received numerous awards, including the Norwegian Grammy Award (Spelemannsprisen) on several occasions.

Bergen Big Band, the regional big band for the west of Norway, has established itself as a big band of international calibre in collaboration with composers and arrangers from home and abroad. The Guardian review of the band’s recording with Karin Krogh referred to it as ‘the immaculate Bergen Big Band’
