Some of the best things Norway has to offer can best be enjoyed from the comfort of a train. You don’t have to concentrate on the traffic and can just sit back and enjoy the view. NSB’s trains run through some of the most beautiful, wild and unspoiled scenery in Norway.
NSB Regiontog (Long distance trains)
If you are planning to travel between small and large towns and cities in Norway, you will travel on NSB Regiontog. They differ from NSB’s local trains in several ways. They are usually bigger and more comfortable, have better service on board, and they don’t make many stops en route. Most of NSB regiontog serve food and refreshments. Light meals, dinner and refreshing beverages can be purchased at NSB MENY cafés.
NSB FAMILIE (Family)
Most children love travelling by train, and on trains between Oslo and Bergen, NSB has a separate section specially adapted for those travelling with children. Here, children can play, and there are books and activity packs for them as well. Films are also shown on some departures. NSB FAMILIE has room for prams. When you book your ticket, let them know if you will be taking a pram with you. The NSB FAMILIE service is included in the ticket price. On all NSB trains, one child under the age of 16 can travel free of charge if accompanied by an adult travelling on an ordinary ticket.
NSB KOMFORT (Comfort-class)
This is a section of the train for passengers who would like to work while on board or who just want a bit more comfort on their journey. Here, you have access to a selection of the day’s Norwegian newspapers, complimentary coffee and tea, and there are electricity outlets so that you can use your PC for work or entertainment purposes. You can travel in NSB KOMFORT for a small additional charge.
