Sink into the captivating shadows of the Parisian night.
Starting up his contemporary circus company Recirquel in 2012, artistic director Bence Vági decided to bring the extraordinary Hungarian circus artistry tradition to new heights. With excellent reviews and 22 sold out shows at last year’s Edinbungh Fringe Festival behind them, Paris de Nuit brings Recirquel to Norway for the first time.
Dancers, circus artists and jazz musicians are brought together to recreate the roaring variety life of Paris in the 1930s. The show is filled with voluptuous desires and stunning beauty, inspired by the images of Hungarian photographer Brassaï, who captured and revealed the most daring moments from the lives of prostitutes, peddlers, down and outs and illicit lovers who lived on the edges of society.
The music of Paris de Nuit is original composition for the show by Péter Sárik, one of Hungary's most acclaimed composers nowadays. Accompanied by the smoky live jazz tunes of six of the finest Hungarian musicians, Paris de Nuit offers the quintessence of an unforgettable night.
Staged with the audience seated at tables around and on stage, the performers are as close to the spectators as physically possible. So close, in fact, you can get a sense of the adrenaline rushing through the blood of the artist doing a handstand on your table.
Be prepared for an evening with smoky atmosphere and a powerful demonstration of utter artistry, touching team work and the purest trust.
'From start to finish, this is a thrilling show that demands to be seen and truly deserves to be.' – BROADWAY BABY
