One could easily claim that Bjørn Tomren (b. 1981) is one of Norway’s most versatile musicians. In 2019 Tomren released his first album under his own name, and this year’s Festival concert is based on this material.

Bjørn Tomren first became known as one half of the polka- and yodelling duo Polkabjørn og Kleine Heine in the middle of the last decade, and since then he has engaged in numerous genres and projects.
Among these are throat singing (in the trio Huurd Altan Hangai Tu), hymn singing (in the trio Samantha Foxtrot), Americana (in the band The Thomas Quickstep Experience), and punk (in the band Tomra Konfeksjon). Tomren is also most likely the only Festival artist who has traversed Norway lengthwise four times: By foot, by kayak, in a rowing boat, and skiing.
Tomren's new album Bad Science Fiction received rave reviews, and was described by the newspaper BT as “balladry in the Americana tradition, heavily loaded with sophisticated rhythms, sonorous string instruments, and heavy atmospheres”.
