Anna Meredith
Ecstatic, endlessly danceable music.
Anna Meredith is a genre-defying composer and producer whose work sits in a variety of musical worlds — classical contemporary, art-pop, electronics and experimental rock to name a few.
Her critically acclaimed debut album Varmints (2016) was released to critical acclaim from the likes of The Wire, The Sunday Times and The Line of Best Fit, and found its well-deserved place in Pitchforks' Best New Music. Her follow-up album FIBS (2019) was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize and featured in several end of year lists.
Meredith is also an established composer working across film, TV and theatre and installations; a recent project, Bumps Per Minute, was written for bumper cars - each collision triggering a new bespoke track. NUC, a collection of her work for quartet and arranged and performed by the Ligeti Quartet will be released in 2023.
Anna Meredith is joined by her band who are four of Britain's leading instrumentalists; cellist Maddie Cutter, guitarist Jack Ross, tubaist Hanna Mbuya and drummer Sam Wilson. Their live shows have been described as 'sheer exhilaration' and 'a stormy, ecstatic, endlessly danceable thrill to behold' (NPR).
