Bjarke Mogensen
Aladdin, Peer Gynt, Moby Dick and Captain Nemo from a Danish accordion virtuoso.
Bjarke Mogensen is one of Scandinavia's most active soloists. This highly varied concert programme reflects the impressive breadth of his repertoire.
Nordic sound is the essence, found in works by Edvard Grieg, Carl Nielsen, Per Nørgård (celebrating 90 years in 2022), Bjarke Mogensen himself and the Danish singer/composer Pernille Sejlund.
Mogensen's continual collaboration with eminent composers often results in world premieres of works for solo accordion dedicated to him.
In Grieg's villa he premieres the solo version of Sejlund's Moby Dick, a composition inspired by Herman Melville's novel and the progrock band Mastodon. He also premieres the solo version of Marilyn Mazur's Det lille elektriske værk (The little electric work) and Wolf Echo, a work written for him by the Grammy-nominated composer Poul Ruders.
'This exceedingly modest multitalent increasingly resembles a King Midas of Danish music. When he touches something, it turns to gold.' – BERLINGSKE TIDENDE
