Fabio Biondi
Court music from Drottningholm.
The Italian violinist Fabio Biondi is acclaimed for his innovative interpretations, unique instrumental competence and his deep theoretical insight.
He was fascinated by Baroque music from an early age, and founded Europa Galante in the late 1980s. The ensemble, today among the most respected in early music in the world, will give a concert with Bondi in Håkonshallen during the festival. Fabio Bondi has won prizes throughout his career, including the Diapason d'Or de l'Année and Choc de l'Année de Classica. In demand as a guest conductor and soloist worldwide, he will stand alone before an audience in Grieg's Villa for a unique intimate recital.
On his violin from 1768 he will perform court music by Johan Helmich Roman (1694–1758), 'the Swedish Handel', a composer Biondi has championed in orchestral and solo concerts alike.
'Technically immaculate and musically exquisite, it is difficult to imagine this enchanting music better played or engineered.' – THE STRAD ON FABIO BIONDI
