Schubert meets Liszt in the hands of a masterful pianist.
Pianist Francesco Piemontesi combines ‘an amazing technique with intellectual capacity few can match’, writes The Specator.
In his solo recitals of works by Franz Liszt and other composers, this Swiss pianist has knocked audiences out with his musical imagination and expressive virtuoso playing. His extensive discography demonstrates exceptional sensitivity. Francesco Piemontesi
regularly performs in prestigious venues with world-renowned orchestras. In Troldsalen in the 2020 Bergen International Festival however we get to see him in a more intimate setting. His Schubert-Liszt programme opens with Schubert’s Piano Sonata no. 18, often referred to as the ‘Fantasie’. He also performs Liszt’s arrangement of three Schubert songs and Liszt’s B minor Piano Sonata, considered one of the most demanding works for piano ever written.
In addition to his Troldsalen appearance Piemontesi also appears in Håkonshallen
with the young musicians in the Crescendo mentoring programme.
