Isata Kanneh-Mason

Past events:
Norwegian debut from British pianist.

The critically acclaimed pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason released her debut album Romance in 2019, which landed her a first place on the UK Classical charts. The debut celebrates her inspiration Clara Schumann's 200-year anniversary; Gramophone Magazine cited the release as 'one of the most charming and engaging debuts'. This was followed in 2021 by Summertime, a journey through the varied piano repertoire of 20th century America.

With a background from The Royal Academy of Music, Kanneh-Mason is currently continuing her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin with Kirill Gerstein. She has received several prestigious awards, and been booked for performances at New York's Carnegie Hall and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. The Kanneh-Masons – the pianist along with her six younger siblings, all trained in classical music – appeared on Britain's Got Talent in 2015. In 2020 the siblings released the album Carnival of the Animals.

Isata Kanneh-Mason will give two recitals in Grieg's villa. These concerts during the Bergen International Festival will be her first in Norway.
