Kronos Quartet goes under the surface
Family concert at the Aquarium with the Festival artist-in-residence.
Inside the Rotunda, a large, round room with aquariums from floor to ceiling, you can hear one of the world's very best string quartets play for you – and for all the fish!
Kronos Quartet comes from the American seaport of San Francisco, and was founded more than 45 years ago. The four musicians have performed thousands of concerts and like to do things their own way. They are especially fond of playing new music, and at this concert you can hear many works written by living composers from all over the world. The programme includes music inspired by Malian handclapping songs, Chinese paintings and outer space.
The event takes place inside the Bergen Aquarium on the public holiday Ascension Day, allowing you to meet penguins, flounders and sharks before or after the concert!
