Näkymätön kansa – The invisible people

​Four young Kvens meet. They are from different parts of the country and feel an identity that is tied to something invisible. Together, they begin a theatrical search for the invisible people. Stories, secrets and a great void appear. What are they going to fill it with? They decide to determine for themselves what the Kven void will contain.

If asked what they see when thinking of a Kven, many people will say "nothing". The critically acclaimed theatre performance Näkymätön kansa – The invisible people addresses this invisibility with an inquisitive style in which the actors, together with the audience, search for the meaning of the term Kven, in a theatrical conversation about northern identity. 

Näkymätön kansa – The invisible people is a performance about doubt, wondering and a yoga ball, and is Kvääniteatteri's very first production. From their base in Storslett, Nord-Troms, the theatre company works to create and convey Kven performing arts both nationally and internationally.

'It could have become all black and white – here are the good guys, there are the bad guys. Here is what is right, there is what is wrong. But it didn't turn out that way at all. Instead, it became unpredictable, surprising, intricate and complex, with jabs in all directions. Also, it became funny. – NORDLYS

Nelje nuorta kvääniä kohathaan. Het tulhaan erilaisilta aloilta ympäri maata. Het tunnethaan identiteettiä johonkin, joka oon näkymätön. Yhessä het alethaan näkymättömän kansan seenilisen haun. Ilmestyy muisteluksia, salaisuuksia ja suuri tyhjyys. Millä net voihaan täyttää sen? Het päätethään itte päättäät, millä kväänityhjyys täytethään.

Monet vastaavat «ei mithään»,  jos heiltä kysythään, mitä het näet, ko het ajattelhaan kväänistä. Kriitikkeritten ylistämä teatteriesitys Näkymätön kansa – Det usynlige folket käsittellee tätä näkymättomyytä tutkivalla tyylilä, jossa näyttelijät hajethaan kväänisyyttä pyblikymin kans seenilinen juttelussa pohjasesta identiteetistä.

Näkymätön kansa – Det usynlige folket oon esitys eppäilystä, ihmeilystä ja joogapallosta, ja se oon Kvääniteatterin ensimäinen produksuuni. Teatterissa oon pohja Hansinkentässä Pohjas-Tromssassa. Sieltä teatteri työtelee luomhaan ja levittämhään kväänin seenikynsti kansalisesti ja kansanvälisesti.

«Siitä olisi tullu mustavalkeista - tässä oon hyvät, sielä oon pahat. Tässä oon oikhein, sielä oon väärin. Mutta niin ei kuitenki tullu. Sen sijhaan tuli arvaamaton, yllättävä, moniosanen ja monimukkanen, ja potkula ja ittepotkula tuone ja tänne. Lisäksi se oli hauskaa.» – NORDLYS
