Nils Bech
with dancers from The Norwegian National Ballet
Past events:
Strong, personal and magnificent.
The artist Nils Bech has long moved between art, classical and pop music. Now, he has teamed up with the Norwegian National Ballet dancer and choreographer Anaïs Touret to create a new concert performance inside his musical universe.
The artistic elements are created by visual artist Ida Ekblad. On stage are a group of ballet dancers, the string quartet Oslo Strings, a duo on percussion and keyboards – and, of course, the main person himself, Nils Bech.
The song material stems from the entire span of his rich, personal catalogue, right up to the previous year's duo project consisting of duets sung by men to men. Duet partners have included, among others, Kristian Kristensen, Emir and Dutty Dior.
It is important to Bech that queer love is represented in art, and he has previously stated that he wants to write the love between men into the Norwegian songbook. In this concert performance, which saw its world premiere at The Norwegian Opera & Ballet in January, he takes this love to some of the country's most important stages.
Here, songs, storytelling and dance melt together in moods that go from tender and heartfelt to magnificent and jubilant.
