Update 15 April 2021: This concert with Bergen Cathedral Choir is unfortunately cancelled.

Bergen Cathedral Choir is one of Norway’s leading amateur choirs and a powerhouse for church music in Western Norway. The choir is led by conductor and founder Kjetil Almenning, and celebrated its 10th year in 2019. In recent years, Bergen Cathedral Choir has fronted sing-a-long masses and had several concerts during the Festival.

The concert title Song of Smaller Creatures is from a work by Abbie Betinis, which consists of three short tone-poems for mixed a cappella chorus. Each is a character study on a small creature from the natural world, and you can hear the bee buzzing, the spider weaving its web and wings of the butterfly flapping. The choir will also be performing Courtney Bryan’s Dust to Dust, which is a part of her newly composed orchestral work Requiem.

By launching performances and artists as they are confirmed, the Festival would like to draw attention to the work our wonderful artists do, though the pandemic may cause numerous changes to the final festival programme.
