Does the Salome character have a modern equivalent? What is the Waste Commission doing? How do you decolonize the arts, and what physical processes happen in a body exposed to art?

These questions and many others will be discussed at the House of Literature during the Bergen International Festival. This year’s debate programme consists of nine events open to the public, plus one school debate.

‘Art experiences are worth even more when they lead to conversations and reflections, and the Festival works to create spaces to encourage discussion and debate. I look forward to learning from all the bright people on this year’s panels,’ says festival director Anders Beyer, who will also be hosting a talk with Festival composer Jörg Widmann.

Several discussions are held in English, and the language is listed for each event.
