Violinist Tai Murray and pianist Silke Avenhaus celebrate the season with Beethoven’s Spring Sonata and works by Scott and Bull.

Transparencia by American composer Jeff Scott starts with fast, rolling melodic lines that represent the sound of waves coming to shore. This work opens the concert in Troldsalen at Troldhaugen, which was the home of composer Edvard Grieg and his wife Nina.

American Tai Murray and German Silke Avenhaus regularly perform together. 'Like a magnet that pulls in the listener … infused with a powerful current, an energy and force', wrote one reviewer after a concert with the duo.

Beethoven’s famous Violin Sonata no. 5, the 'Spring Sonata', is the finale of the programme. The effervescent, graceful work is loved by violinists, pianists and audiences alike, and you can almost hear the buds of spring opening in the music. Murray and Avenhaus will also be performing Ole Bull’s Cantabile dolorosa e Rondo giocoso.
