Through the Festival Academy of Bergen the Bergen International Festival aims to provide a platform for emerging young musicians and composers, creating a meeting place where they can inspire each other.

The Bergen Festival Academy is looking for composers aged 20–35 for the 2027 programme, to participate in the mentor programme Classical Link, initiated by Amalie Stalheim. This year's participants are a cello duo, and the selected composer will write short pieces for this duo.

Throughout the winter, the composers will receive guidance from a composer mentor, and rehearsals and workshops with the performers will be arranged ahead of their arrival in Bergen in May. The main concert, at which the new works will receive their world premieres, is scheduled for Sunday 6 June. The concert date is subject to change.

There is no participation fee for selected composers, and the Bergen International Festival will cover travel, accommodation and meals. Selected participants are expected to be able to devote their full attention to the programme from 1 to 10 June, with possible travel to Bergen on 30 May and departure on 11 June.
