Pedro Gómez-Egaña is the 2027 Festival Exhibition Artist

Gómez-Egaña will examine the subterranean space as a site for extraction, power, and historical oppression through a comprehensive installation spanning four galleries of Bergen Kunsthall.

Leif Ove Andsnes is the 2027 Artist in Residence

In 2027, Andsnes will become the first musician to have been Artist in Residence at the Bergen International Festival more than once.

About the Festival

  • The Festival was under the patronage of His Majesty King Harald V.

  • Presents music, opera, theatre, dance, debates and family events during 15 days in May/June every year, extended to 18 days in the jubilee year of 2027. 

  • The Festival dates for 2027 is 26 May-12 June.

  • The first Bergen International Festival was held in 1953.  

  • Lars Petter Hagen has been the Festival director since 2022.  

  • The Bergen International Festival had an attendance of over 70,000 in 2025.

  • Artist in Residence for 2027 is Leif Ove Andsnes.
