The Bergen International Festival mourns the passing of His Majesty King Harald
It is with great sorrow that we have received the news of the passing of His Majesty King Harald.
On behalf of everyone at the Bergen International Festival, we extend our deepest condolences to the Royal Family.
For several decades, King Harald has held a very special place in the history of the Bergen International Festival. As the Festival’s Royal Patron since the early 1990s, following in the footsteps of both his father and grandfather, he continued a royal tradition dating back to the Festival’s founding in 1953. Through his commitment and presence, he helped strengthen the Festival’s standing both nationally and internationally.
Over the years, the King and Queen have met artists from around the world, attended concerts, performances and exhibitions, and shown a continued interest in art and culture. Their presence has been an important part of the Festival’s history and a clear recognition of the importance of the arts in society.
We will remember King Harald as a warm and knowledgeable patron of Norwegian cultural life.
Our thoughts are with the Royal Family.
