Kahardu Bergen?
This performance is a tribute to everything Bergen has – to those who have come here, to those who have always been here, and to those who will come in the future. Kahardu, Bergen? takes you on a journey through two decades of Fargespill, where today's performers draw inspiration from past participants and blend it with their own favorites.
The story of Fargespill began at the Bergen International Festival in 2003 when musician Ole Hamre was asked to create some artistic contributions. In collaboration with Sissel Saue and her library of Norwegian folk tunes, he took inspiration from the cultural treasures and traditions brought by students from the reception class at Nygård school. The result was a musical encounter between differences that showed how obvious it is that we are alike and how enriching it is that we are different, prompting the Festival director to enthusiastically commission a full performance.
The following year, the performance Fargespill premiered, and it layed the foundation for the establishment of the artistic organisation with the same name. Today, the Fargespill organisation is in Bergen, Bodø, and Oslo, and is further licensed to nearly 20 other municipalities and urban areas in Norway.
In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Fargespill invites you and the entire family to a celebration of everything Bergen has.
