Argentinian master on Grieg's piano.
The French newspaper Le Monde has called Nelson Goerner 'one of those discreet artists whose career is immense'. Other reviewers describe a 'quiet greatness' in the Argentine pianist, highlighting unparalleled technique, poetic sensitivity, and musical conviction.
During the Bergen International Festival, he will perform two concerts at Troldhaugen. In this first one, in Grieg's villa and on Grieg's own grand piano, Goerner presents the entire third book of Lyric Pieces. Edvard Grieg gave many concerts featuring his own compositions, often playing from Book III.
The rest of the programme includes works by the Hungarian composer Franz Liszt and the Polish composer Frédéric Chopin. Goerner has both composers in his extensive discography, and several of his recordings have been hailed as reference albums.
'Goerner is one of the most exciting pianists of our time, with a technique that can leave anyone breathless and a musicality that is equally impressive.' – AFTENPOSTEN
