Schumann in three parts.
In spring 2023, the Norwegian violinist Vilde Frang won the Classical Spelleman of the Year Award, a Norwegian Grammy. She had her first solo engagement with an orchestra at the age of 10 and was introduced to the German violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter during the 1998 Bergen International Festival. That marked the beginning of Frang's international career as a soloist and chamber musician.
The violinist will perform in Håkonshallen alongside cellist Maximilian Hornung and pianist Denis Kozhukhin, both renowned soloists and among Frang's chamber music partners.
The programme features Robert Schumann's three piano trios, of which the first two were written in the same year. The first is the most frequently performed; the other two rarely so. At this concert, you can hear all three together.
'Frang has the knack of breathing life into every note, whether by variations in phrasing, attack, tone or dynamic – just a few of the weapons in her impressive musical armoury' – BBC MUSIC MAGAZINE
