Film screening of Kyiv Soloists.

Save the date Monday 26 May for an outdoor film screening of Kyiv Soloists at the Festival square.

The documentary follows 15 musicians from the orchestra Kyiv Soloists, on what was meant to be a short tour in February 2022. ‘A must for music enthusiasts ... A beautiful and heartfelt film that offers insight. And that tugs at the heartstrings’, wrote Bergens Tidende about the film.

On the large open square, you can grab one of the colourful chairs or bring your own chair. A blanket, some hot cocoa, and homemade popcorn also help create that perfect cinema atmosphere.

Bergen International Film Festival (BIFF) screens over 120 documentary and fiction films from around the world each year during nine days in October.

Kyiv Soloists

Winner of the main prize at the Human International Film Festival 2025

15 musicians from the orchestra Kyiv Soloists leave for what was meant to be a short tour in Italy in February of 2022. The same night Russia invades their home country. In the following chaos, the soloists decide to expand the tour further into Europe, before the Norwegian Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra offers them a home and jobs in Bodø. The musicians now navigate their new life in limbo, and as refugees. How will they make decisions for the future when the news from the war overshadows everything?
