Conducting masterclass
with Esa-Pekka Salonen
Festival Academy of Bergen
Follow this year’s Artist in Residence as he guides the next generation of conductors.
Central to Esa-Pekka Salonen’s artistic practice is his search for new ways to open classical music to wider audiences. As an acclaimed composer and conductor, he has been particularly committed to breaking down barriers between artist and audience.
The future of musical life has been another recurring theme in Salonen’s work, and during the Festival three young conductors will have the opportunity to meet and learn from this year’s Artist in Residence. The public is welcome to attend the open teaching session.
Swiss conductor Nina Haug, Bergen native Rasmus Hella Mikkelsen, and Julie Røssland from Voss are all participants in Dirigentforum, an elite programme for conductors by Talent Norge. The masterclass will be a special opportunity to learn from the star conductor and to work with this year’s Festival musicians in the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.
