Family day
at Siljustøl
Fairytale atmosphere in Sæverud’s natural paradise.
Siljustøl is a vast and beautiful outdoor landscape with winding paths, towering trees, a lake, and the composer Harald Sæverud’s home rising from its surroundings.
On the final day of spring, the forest and the house come alive with mysterious creatures and musical experiences. You may catch a glimpse of witches, creatures in the grass and among the trees around the next bend – or was something stirring down there, in the dark waters? Here, children and adults can explore nature and music together. Outdoors, visitors can follow puzzle trails and sensory adventure routes; inside the house, guided tours and musical fairy tales await.
In celebration of the 20th family day and Dukketeaterverkstedet’s 30 years in their red workshop at Østre Murallmenningen, audiences can look forward to some new wandering mythological fantasy figures at Siljustøl.
Sæverud and his wife, Marie Hvoslef, created Siljustøl as a place to live in close contact with nature and its sounds. Every morning, Sæverud would walk barefoot through the dew-covered grass and drink a small glass of seawater drawn from a depth of 40 metres in the Korsfjord.
