Miles Davis 100 years
with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra
A powerful celebration of Miles Davis’ epic musical universe with Nils Petter Molvær, Anja Lauvdal, Ellen Andrea Wang, Veslemøy Narvesen, Eivind Lønning and Kristina Fransson.
In 2026, the jazz trumpeter, band leader, and composer Miles Davis would have celebrated his 100th birthday. His importance as one of the great creators of style in jazz cannot be overstated, and this evening’s set list touches on several eras of Davis’ catalogue – from Porgy and Bess to Bitches Brew.
The Norwegian Radio Orchestra (Kork) celebrates Miles Davis with a powerful concert at Hallen USF with some of Norway’s leading jazz musicians. At the forefront of the star-studded lineup is trumpeter Nils Petter Molvær, one of Norwegian jazz’ leading figures who was inspired by Miles Davis’ distinctive sound early on. He is joined by two trumpeters from the younger generations: Eivind Lønning and Kristina Fransson.
The band leaves no doubt about the musical level, featuring Anja Lauvdal on keys, Ellen Andrea Wang on bass, and Veslemøy Narvesen on drums.
In recent years, Kork has strengthened its position as Norway’s jazz orchestra – a group of 54 musicians who master the combination of symphonic sound with advanced jazz harmonies and rhythms.
In 2025, Kork has engaged Miho Hazama as its principal guest conductor. Hazama is regarded as one of the world’s leading orchestral conductors and is also an outstanding jazz composer and arranger with a very broad stylistic range.
