Making theatre out of a court case.

‘The most disturbing thing theatre can show’ wrote the newspaper Die Welt about Milo Rau and Servane Dècle’s production The Pelicot Trial. The four-hour performance is based on the trial against Gisèle Pelicot’s abusers and has been staged in several countries since its premiere in 2025. During the Festival, the production will be presented in Johanneskirken on Wednesday 3 June.

How does one go about presenting sexual violence on stage? Professor Maria Delgado hosts the conversation with director Servane Dècle on the challenges and possibilities in representing violent content on stage, as well as inviting justice and the legal system into the theatre, through the use of legal material. The audience will be invited to ask questions following the discussion.
