Daytime concerts brought to you by tomorrow’s artists.
During the Bergen International Festival, you can drop by Grieghallen for musical replenishment at noon or early afternoon (15:00), both weekdays and weekends. Here you'll be served music performed by outstanding young musicians.
At the Drop-in concerts in the Grieghallen foyer, students at the Grieg Academy take center stage. Here, it's the young, skilled musicians' time in the limelight. The concerts are held in a relaxed setting, where the students and teachers often play together.
These short daytime concerts contain a broad spectrum of music – the programmes are mainly classical, but with detours to other genres and styles. The programme varies from classical works to contemporary music and even new works composed by the students themselves. Great musical experiences are lined up in the more than 15 concerts to choose from in the series.
The Drop-in concerts have been a staple of the Festival programme since the 1970s and is a dear tradition for many. There is also the opportunity to get to know artists which will influence the Norwegian music scene in years to come. The Grieg Academy alumni includes opera singer Lise Davidsen, mezzo soprano Ingvild Schultze-Florey, drummer and composer Øyvind Skarbø and singer and electronic artist Mari Kvien Brunvoll.
