Grieg, Medtner, Gubaidulina and Liszt at Gamlehaugen.

Oslo-based pianist Nikita Khnykin has appeared regularly at the Bergen International Festival since 2017, participating in masterclasses and masterclass concerts with Prof. Jiri Hlinka’s Piano Academy. In his solo recital at Gamlehaugen, Khnykin will perform Grieg’s Holberg Suite, Nikolai Medtner’s Fairy Tale and Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody, alongside Sofia Gubaidulina’s Chaconne, by the former Artist in Residence.

In 2026, the Bergen International Festival presents a series of five concerts at Gamlehaugen featuring young string players and pianists participating at the Festival Academy of Bergen – an annual meeting place for emerging musicians. Khnykin will also appear at the piano on several occasions at Gamlehaugen, with violinist Olga Melby Larsson on Wednesday 3 June, and violinist Ariane Jebsen Alvestad on Thursday 4 June.
