Young singers in concert with mentoring by an opera star.

The elegant and powerful voice of baritone Thomas Hampson has moved audiences throughout a long career. The American artist is keen to encourage the next generation of singers ‘to let the heart speak more, and the brain less’, as he has told the music magazine Preludium. In Troldsalen, Hampson will share his experience with three young Norwegian singers.

The masterclass combines concert with mentoring, where soprano Sofia Nesje Enger, tenor Ian Marcus Bjørsvik and soprano Inga Lohne-Otterstad will perform complete works and receive artistic guidance from Hampson afterwards. What advice will the legendary baritone offer the next generation?

Hampson will also give a concert in Håkonshallen at this year’s Festival alongside star accordionist Ksenija Sidorova on Monday 1 June.
