After touring North America and Europe, Efterklang visits Bergen International Festival for a rare orchestral performance of their highly successful album Piramida.

The Danish band Efterklang has existed since 2001, with its expressive and exploratory soundscapes of alternative rock, electronica and dreamy vocal harmonies.

Since inception, they have released four albums, the last two at the prestigious English company 4 AD, known among other releases by The Pixies, This Mortail Coil and Bon Iver. Their latest album, the critically acclaimed Piramida, has seriously begun to consolidate Efterklang as a big name internationally.

Piramida draws its name, inspiration and much of the soundscape from the abandoned Russian mining village of Pyramiden on Svalbard. After recording and integrating the sounds of the arctic ghost town in ten songs, adding  extra instruments - and even a 70-voice girls' choir - Efterklang wanted to think even bigger.

Time Out Sidney after the concert.

Since then they have played the orchestral version of the album in New York, London, Brussels and several other cities. In February, the band embarked on their first U.S. tour, and recently they were nominated for the Nordic Council Music Prize for Piramida. At Bergen International Festival they join forces with Kringkastingsorkestret  (KORK, The Norwegian Radio Orchestra), and play the fully orchestrated Piramida concert for the first time in Norway.
