Franui Musicbanda
Festival square
Tyrolean atmosphere with a classic twist.
What happens if you play a funeral march four times faster – does it become a polka? The ten East Tyrolean musicians of Franui Musicbanda have set out to explore the possibilities found in the ancient layers of folk music. With voices, string and wind instruments, they pay tribute to sounds and melodies that havent found their way into songbooks, performed at waltz tempo or at breakneck speed, somewhere between folk, classical and contemporary music.
Franui Musicbanda visit Bergen as part of the contemporary circus production Urlicht Primal Light, and will also make this appearance at the Festival square on Friday 5 June. Audiences are invited to warm up with a festive outdoor concert by the ten musicians – completely free and open to all.
